On February 17, 2021 the Memphis Center for Independent Living working in conjunction with centers for independent living across Tennessee will kickoff our Navigating Your New Normal workshop series. This seven-part series is designed to assist people with newly acquired disabilities and their families, people with disabilities that have or will significantly change over time, social workers, and others to navigate the programs they will need in order to become more independent and live successfully in their community. Throughout the workshops we will reinforce key concepts like the Independent Living philosophy, self-advocacy, information and resources, and peer support. Topics include assistive technology, Choices, managing your plan of care, vocational rehabilitation, social security, housing, transportation, and how to live with a disability. It is open to the public and will be held using the Zoom platform. Workshops will be held every Wednesday from 1:00-3:00 PM CST each week beginning on February 17th and ending on March 31, 2021.
